The meeting to celebrate ten years of Earth Charter - on 29 June at the Peace Palace in The Hague - will be streamed worldwide at www.earthcharter.nl.
Online participants may also contribute to the dialogue with responses and questions that will be visible to all attendees in the room.
Also at the meeting on 29 June, live chats with prominent participants are scheduled:
- at 11.15 AM Dutch time (UTC/GMT + 2 hours) with Herman Mulder, Dutch Worldconnector, former General Director of ABN AMRO Bank and initiator of the Equator Principles
- at 01.00 PM with Karen Armstrong from England (Charter for Compassion) <;li> and at 4:00 PM with Song Li from China (Earth Charter Council / World Bank).
Personal reminders for the online participation on 29 June can be arranged at www.eartcharter.nl.
Furthermore, a viral campaign was recently launched with the motto "It starts with one." This specifically calls for young people to be inspired by the Earth Charter and to actively contribute to a just, sustainable and peaceful world. The website www.earthcharter.nl will constantly be showing new video portraits of people who are already doing just that in different ways. The Earth Charter has its own interactive YouTube channel, ECInternational, where audiovisual spotlights, interviews, reports and informative videos may be viewed, commented on and downloaded.
Interactivity is promoted by the abundant use of innovative means of communication at the event itself as well. Plenary presentations on the central platform are interspersed with group discussions, the ideas and conclusions of which are Twittered to large screens. Webcams in The Hague and in Uganda allow children in both countries to communicate with each other about the reuse of waste and to virtually attend each other's live animations.
This is a unique opportunity to follow and interact with the 200 participants and the keynote speakers at the event!
