Ann is a member of the Philadelphia Maryknoll Affiliate Chapter and currently serves as Chair of the Maryknoll Affiliate Board. She has participated in the Affiliate movement since 1993, initially as a member of the Chicago Central Chapter. From 1997 to 2000, she had the opportunity to work with the Maryknoll Border Project in El Paso, Texas-Cuidad Juarez, Mexico. She has an enduring respect and admiration for Maryknoll and because of her early exposure to this mission family and Orbis books, was drawn to the study of liberation theology. Her undergraduate thesis work was on the subject of spirituality and human liberation in the context of Latin American social movements. She has participated in short term medical mission work in El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Peru and India. Currently, she works as a pediatrician in Philadelphia, where she serves as the Director of the Einstein Inpatient Pediatric Service at St Christopher's Hospital for Children and Associate Residency Program Director. Her areas of interest in mission include accompaniment of immigrants and refugees, Latino children displaced into the foster care system upon parental deportation and the impact of trauma and violence on child development. She is committed, along with other members of the Affiliate Board, to cultivating a spirit of engagement and growth in the Affiliate movement and deepening relationships between the Affiliates and all members of the Maryknoll Mission movement.
