Dear Affiliate Friends,
Greetings to all of you. During the first weekend of November, your Affiliate Board companions gathered at Maryknoll for a lively and very productive Board meeting. We look forward to sharing more with you regarding specific developments from our time together in the near future. Paula Schaffner, from the California Central Coast Chapter, once again graciously agreed to serve as scribe for the entire meeting and Betty Begley is working with her to put together the minutes.
We also wanted to make you aware of some changes in our membership. Just as there has been recent turnover amongst the Regional Coordinators, we have now experienced this on the Board.
It was with some sadness that we learned that Rita Peters of the Florida Space Coast Chapter will no longer be continuing on the Board. Rita is relatively new to the Affiliate movement and we appreciated the fresh perspective she has offered. Rita has decided that she would like to direct her energies more at the local Chapter level at this time and we certainly affirm her in her decision. We are most grateful to Rita for the time that she did dedicate to service on the Board and extend to her a big thank you. If you would like, please send Rita a personal message.
After considering potential candidates for Rita’s replacement, the Board unanimously chose to welcome Mary Massarro of Philadelphia as our newest Board member. Mary has been a dedicated member of the Philadelphia Chapter, had previously expressed a willingness to serve as a co-regional coordinator for the Northeast region and had also expressed openness to serving on the Board. Mary has worked as a Maryknoll missioner in Africa and is a most insightful and thoughtful person. Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Mary.
