Heidi Cerneka to speak on her ministry with women in prison in St. Louis

E-mail Print PDF

The St. Louis Chapter of the Maryknoll Affiliates invites you to a conversation with Heidi Cerneka, who will be sharing stories about his lived experiences in Brazil.

When: Monday, Jnue 11 from 7:00 – 8:30 pm

Where: St. Francis Xavier “College” Church (parish center, adult faith room)

Heidi Cerneka serves as a Lay Missioner in Brazil since 1997. Heidi's presentation will take an in-depth look at her ministry with women in prison focusing on gender, prison/crime and the resilience of these women. Heidi writes that drugs are becoming more and more the cause of imprisonment in many parts of the world- and especially for women; she sees the same women - then back on the streets, and then back in prison so they are now seeing generations of the same families in prison- because it is a socio-economic question and not just about public health and drug addiction. Time provided for questions and discussion. Come join us in order to understand why Heidi speaks of her time in mission so far as being "amazing, grace-filled, frustrating, hilarious, rewarding, inspirational, and heartbreaking!"
