Advent - Christmas 2009
Dear Maryknoll Affiliates,
Love from Mary’s hill for a Blessed Christmas.
Our Wednesday Eucharistic Adoration, which began on Ash Wednesday 2001, has, from the beginning, been dedicated to the spiritual and material welfare of all our Maryknoll family: Fathers, Brothers, Sisters, Lay Missioners, Affiliates and Full Circle Members. We also have a special ongoing Prayer List for the Requests sent by you. We welcome your letters asking prayers for the people in your mission and for the project you are guiding, also for your personal needs as well as those who touch your life.
Since our last letter to you, more of our faithful Adoration Sisters have gone to God, namely, Srs. Mary Kane, Rita Gregory, Marie Clare Albrecht and Margarite Retter. New Sisters to the Center take their place here in our Chapel. Our many Adoration Sisters now in heaven continue to pray for us. They have become a wonderful “back-up”.
When Pope Benedict XVI went to Sidney, Australia, for the Youth Rally in July 2008, he spoke to the young people concerning the moral teachings of the Church. He told them, There is something sinister that stems from the fact that freedom and tolerance are so often separated from the truth.” There is also a Latino saying, “Those who speak the truth often speak to themselves.” The Lord Jesus will surely guide us as we speak the truth tin our catechesis of the Faith.
May the year ahead be fruitful, healthy and gentle.
