A Time for Reflecting on Our Future

Fred Goddard – Executive Coordinator

Advent is a time of anticipation. We await the Christmas season as well as the New Year. So, what better time to pause and reflect on our future as Maryknoll Affiliates.

Like the November/December issue of Maryknoll magazine, this issue of Not So Far Afield focuses on youth and the future of mission. I hope that you are inspired by these articles as much as I was when I read them as we prepared this edition.

Speaking of the future, I want to share my own future plans with you. My wife, Jeanette (Jet), and I will be returning to the Philippines next year, where Jet hopes to establish a “mobile preschool teacher training institute” now that she has her Masters in Early Childhood Education. As such, I will be resigning my position as Executive Coordinator. I, too, look forward to being back in the Philippines and involved in some new way in God’s mission, just in a different place and in a different way. Of course, I will still be connected as a Maryknoll Affiliate. That is a few months off, so I look forward to spending that time moving some new ideas forward and look to you for support in doing so.

I wish you many blessings for this Christmas season and a New Year filled with prophetic hope.
