To the Maryknoll Affiliates in the Northwest Region,
Over the last few months we have received a number of nominations for Regional Coordinators. Hans Zuuring and I are happy to announce that of the those excellent nominees, Kitty Schiltz and Pat Bader have accepted and will be serving as your Regional Co-Coordinators. They are both members of the Seattle Chapter and have been involved in Maryknoll for years. They have provided brief biographical statements below for those of you who have not yet met them.
We are indeed blessed to have two such capable, enthusiastic, and dedicated people step up to helping our local chapters stay connected and informed about Maryknoll Affiliate movement. They will begin their roles in September.
Kitty and Pat will need your help! Please discuss this at your next meeting and welcome them with your affirmation.

Brief biographical statements for Kitty and Pat:
Kitty Schiltz has been working with Maryknoll off and on for about 40+ years. She has been an Affiliate with the Seattle Chapter for more than a dozen years. Her first experience with Maryknoll was as a newly-wed volunteering in Taiwan in 1969 with Fr. Bob Baudhuin, MM in the mountains, teaching English in the government middle school and working in the parish. After raising two children Kitty joined the Seattle Affiliates and volunteered twice in Thailand during her vacations teaching English to Buddhist monks in a program of Br. John Beeching, MM. For about 5 years Kitty and Roger also took the Maryknoll Magazine to the parish middle school and discussed mission and solidarity with the poor with the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Kitty and her husband Roger Schiltz, (Affiliate board member for two years) joined the Maryknoll Lay Missioner Class of 2003 and spent 3 1/2 working with AIDS orphans in Tanzania. What got me really excited about mission and Maryknoll Affiliates was attending my first Western Regional Affiliate Conference in Portland.
Pat Bader has been a prayer and financial supporter of Maryknoll for over 30 years. He joined the Seattle Affiliate Chapter in 1996 and was Communications Coordinator from 2002 through 2009. He has participated in six Affiliate Conferences beginning with the Portland conference in 2001. He has volunteered as a Maryknoll Affiliate in Oaxaca and Juarez (Mexico), and New Orleans (after Hurricane Katrina). He is retired and lives with his wife, Dee, in Renton, WA. They have three adult children and three grandchildren
He encourages frequent communication among Affiliates and Chapters as an important way to strengthen the Affiliate movement. He looks forward to serving as Northwest Regional Co-Coordinator with Kitty Schiltz .
