Dear member of the Maryknoll community,
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the Maryknoll missioners, lay missioners, affiliate groups and individuals who took part in the Faith, Ecology and the Global Economy reflection process earlier this year. Through the our recent reflection process, Maryknollers around the world called for a new emphasis on simplicity, sufficiency and frugality – and to create a new economic system that recognizes the dignity and rights of humans, communities, species and Earth itself.
All of your reflections from around the world have been crafted into the statement entitled “Global economy imperils Earth, humanity,” available on the Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns’ website. The statement has been translated into Spanish, "La economía global arriesga la Tierra, la humanidad," thanks to Maryknoll Affiliate Alicia Gonzalez-Capestany, and is for use in your communities.
