News from Renate

E-mail Print PDF

We just received the following news from Renate Schneider. Those who know Renate know she has worked in Haiti. As you can read below, she has recently returned from there. We will keep you posted on anything else Renate might share.

Dear Friends,

I arrived in Chicago at one o'clock this morning. 45 minutes after my plane took off from Port au Prince, the earthquake happened. I am fine but devastated by the events. I was going to write a very positive report about my trip, mentioning many areas where progress can be measured, and now this. There had been progress made on infrastructures, roads were being repared and security was much improved. And then this. Neeedless to say I am devastated. I have been unable to get news from friends in Haiti, but even Jacmel, a seaside town has been hit, buildings collapsed and so far about 30 people died there which is quite a distance from PAP. As I know more I will let you know.

Let's stay strong and in prayer for the people of Haiti.

Renate
