About Us

Maryknoll Affiliate Logo

The Maryknoll Affiliates are connected to a wider movement that is popularly called “Maryknoll.” Maryknoll is comprised of three distinct entities: the Maryknoll  Fathers and Brothers (officially known as the Catholic Foreign Mission Society of America), the Maryknoll Sisters of St. Dominic and the Maryknoll Lay Missioners...

Mission Statement

Maryknoll Affiliates, while continuing to pursue their own life's journey, commit themselves to the mission goals of Maryknoll in the context of Chapters that gather for prayer, reflection and action. Maryknoll Affiliates challenge one another to witness to mission as a way of life by going beyond borders, locally and globally, walking with the poor and excluded, and striving for peace and justice for all of God's creation.

Youth and the Maryknoll Affiliates

This issue of Not So Far Afield focuses almost entirely on youth, how they are active with the Maryknoll Affiliates and how we can be getting them involved in mission. We hope you find the stories both inspirational and motivating and that they give you and your Chapter new ideas for working with youth. We hope you share your own ideas and experiences with us by adding a comment (click on "Add comment" below—for registered users).

There are many organizations working with youth. We can find many valuable ideas from and partner with them as we work with young adults. Pax Christi, in particular, provides a wonderful resource through their Campus and Young Adult Organizing programs.

I also congratulated Fred on his 10 years of service to the Affiliate Movement. We really appreciate all you have done, are doing and will do. You are a special missioner.

This was another email message from Roseyn Devlin of Hawaii:

I've just finished reading several articles (including the HI one, of course) and wanted to tell you before I even read all the others that it is a WONDERFUL issue. Somehow hearing of youth involvement fills one with a spirit of hope!

Joe Santos sent the following to me in an email:

Yesterday I started reading the July/August NSFA and could not put it down. Starting with it's theme and reading through each article, it led me through special feelings and many thoughts. During my time on the Board, I recall all the times we talked about getting younger persons involved with the Affiliates, so it is good to read of so much that has been done and think about so much that can be done. I remember the decision to accept the RBC as a Chapter and look what Mary has done! Every article was something special.
