The Red Bank Catholic/Maryknoll Affiliate club's video entry into the diocesan/national contest "The Corporal Works of Mercy" has been selected as the winner among all schools' (both elementary and high) entries for the Diocese of Trenton
Our video has now been sent on to the Basilica in Washington DC for entry into the national contest sponsored by the Catholic Bishops.
Rayanne Bennett, Executive Director of Communications for the Diocese of Trenton, wrote the following:
Please forgive the delay in getting back to you. I was waiting to issue letters to participants until I got confirmation that our nomination had been received by the Basilica.
With that in hand, I am happy to tell you that our local committee here in the diocese did select your school's entry as our nomination in the basilica's program. Our selection committee was most impressed with the consistent and pervasive commitment that your students have demonstrated to the works of mercy. We especially liked the way that you framed the video by presenting the works of mercy specifically – so it was also catechetical!
The next step of course is the selection on the national level by the basilica's groups. We won't know the results of that for some time – I can confirm that date when I send you a more formal letter this week.
Just a heads-up ... we are going to be doing an article in The Monitor on our local selection and the video that we nominated. Lois Rogers, our features editor, will be in contact with you on Monday, just to get a quote or two about your programs and your kids, or with some questions about the programs themselves. If you can check for an e-mail from Lois on Monday, that would be greatly appreciated.
Allow me to congratulate you and your students for the extraordinary way you have lived the Gospel and shared God's love with our sisters and brothers.
