MARYKNOLL MISSION PRAYER MINISTERS AN OPPORTUNITY

Sign up below for all interested

To:  Maryknoll Sisters, Congregation staff persons, Maryknoll Society, Lay Missioners, Affiliates, Full Circle, and all extended Maryknoll-related friends,

Blessed Easter Season Greetings!

For over 20 years now, the Maryknoll Sisters have had the practice of a Prayer Ministry Assignment Ceremony on the Feast of the Sacred Heart, which this year falls on Friday, June 7th.   Beginning with the Sisters’ retirement communities both at Maryknoll, NY, and in Monrovia, CA, the annual practice has been coordinated by our Center Chi Rho Community of independent elderly Sisters.  In 2019, the Albany Chapter of Affiliates surprised us by asking to join in this practice by being Co-Missioners with Sisters who wanted to have a partner in their prayer ministry.  We believe the Affiliate initiative broke ground for new relationships and sharing in mission.

Given the great need for prayer in and for the world at this time, and Pope Francis’ insistence that mission is a call to all the baptized, we are wondering if Mission Prayer Ministry is something that we as Maryknollers could work at together.  The paths opened by the Sisters and Affiliates go forth from our common Maryknoll, NY, Center, and can be made available to Maryknollers everywhere. We would like to begin this year by inviting Maryknollers, present and former, from all Maryknoll Expressions, and from staffs, who would be interested, to join in this collaborative mission prayer ministry. cause, whether their choice coincides with others or is new.  Co-Prayer Ministers will be assigned as available and as possible with assigned Prayer Ministers.  There are important countries and/or specified world concerns that currently do not have mission prayer ministers.  Candidates can choose from the list, request a personal choice, or ask that they be assigned as needed.

The Prayer Ministry Assignment Ceremony on June 7, at 3:00 pm, will take place this year in Annunciation Chapel, in the Sisters’ main building.  It is not necessary to be present to be assigned as a Minister or Co-Minister, but all newly assigned will receive their respective Assignment cards.

In whatever manner this invitation reaches you, if you find yourself interested in participating in this collaborative mission prayer ministry, we will welcome your response as soon as possible.  Please send the information below by return email to emcdonald@mksisters.org  This will help us centralize and prepare the names and proposed mission assignments and corresponding assignment cards.  We plan to have the Ceremony on June 7th live-streamed to allow for virtual presence of all who so desire.

 In gratitude and peace-blessings,

Sr. Theresa Baldini, MM      Richard and Denise Lessard   Sr. Ellen McDonald, MM
