Affiliate VOICES – Living the Four Pillars Today

This new Affiliate initiative welcomes all Maryknollers and all who identify with the Maryknoll charism [of reaching out to the poor and disenfranchised in our world.] How do we in these dark times live out the 4 Affiliate pillars of Community, Spirituality, Global Vision & Action. Do they help us to be grounded, peaceful, compassionate and courageous?

Affiliate VOICES will take place 4 times annually.  The first event will be:

Wednesday, November 19 at 7:00pm EST….4:00pm PST

Celine Woznica, a Chicago Affiliate and former Maryknoll Lay missioner with her family in Nicaragua and Oaxaca, will speak to how the pillars live in her as she accompanies migrants in Chicago. As we’ve seen on the news, Chicago is a horrendous place to be if you are a migrant or even look like one.

VOICES, is just that, an interactive conversation among all of us gathered on how Community/Spirituality/Global Vision/Action can guide us in whatever is touching us at this moment…e.g., Climate Change, Faith, Democracy, Spirituality.

After Celine’s approximately 20-minute presentation, we’ll meet in groups to freely (no notetakers) discuss what we heard and how it might relate to what’s happening in each of our lives. A short plenary (conversation) will follow in which we can speak to what we heard, what moved us. The full session will be 90 minutes or less.
