In the Box. Out of the Box. What Box?

While we might not be able to easily define it, in our guts, many of us are feeling that there is something essentially different about this period in our history. A new paradigm, an axial shift, a quantum leap… however it’s defined, it seems sure that we’ll need to shift some of our assumptions (not all…e.g., love, humility, community, compassion) if we are to remain vital, engaged and at peace.

This applies to our international Affiliate Movement. The Affiliate Pillars and the depth of the Maryknoll charism verymuch remain. However, the box they’ve been living in is probably too small to keep us vital, inviting (even alive) into the future. Moving those infamous deck chairs around won’t do it. Transformational change just might.

In addition to Affiliate leadership, there are groups of U.S. and international Affiliates meeting together to identify things we can do and changes we can make (in and out of the box) to keep us a vibrant, generative and life-giving movement for which others might want to take a look.
