Summer Retreat: Finding Hope in the Present Moment
Jan Alberti – Northeast Ohio Chapter
We are no longer just talking about it – we are actually doing it. Kathy and Flavio are coming to Toledo this summer to share their in-depth knowledge and experience around environment, spirituality, and healing. The content of this one-and-a-half-day retreat seems so timely. Anyone who is eager to deepen their spiritual connections and understanding of ecology in light of our faith may join us.
Join us at: THE LAMB CENTER | TOLEDO METROPARKS | 1025 W. RIVER RD, MAUMEE, OHIO 43537
For a few years, the Northeast Ohio Chapter has had a special connection with Kathy Bond and Flavio Jose Rocha, keeping in contact with them through zoom meetings. These Maryknoll Lay Missioners, who are stationed in Joao Pessoa, Brazil, have conducted Eco-spirituality retreats in the state of Paraiba focusing on well-being, spirituality, ecology, and integral health. Last year, we hosted Kathy for a one-day retreat and left fulfilled but wanting more.
Flavio has a background in Social Sciences, Creation Spirituality, and Environmental Studies. As a Maryknoll Lay Missioner for 21 years, he has provided healing therapies based on Theater of the Oppressed, Family Constellation, and Somatic Experiencing, and has conducted academic research on water as a human right.
Originally from Battle Creek, Michigan, Kathy has been a Maryknoll Lay Missioner for 31 years. Her background includes degrees in business administration and leadership and work with a women’s cooperative in Puerto Rico and with Bread for the World in DC. In Brazil, Kathy collaborates with the AFYA Holistic Health Center, which was started by two Maryknoll Sisters, where she teaches accessible yoga and works on the marketing team.
