Four Affiliate Pillars
Dave Murphy, Affiliate finance chair and virtual member of the Portland, OR chapter, reminds us that each summer we kick off our annual fundraising appeal. The other Maryknoll expressions still continue to provide some levels of support for which we are grateful. Dave and all of us are therefore committed to only ask for donations where there are genuine needs.
While there are always needs related to daily operations of the Affiliate Movement, e.g., staffing, website programming, office supplies, postage and travel related to meetings, our focus is on mission initiatives that speak to the essence of who we. Here are some examples:
Mission Grants for Affiliate Chapter Projects. Since last summer we have distributed $17,800 in funding for five different requests, including projects in Guatemala, Tanzania and Peru. For more information and to request a chapter grant application email davemurphyalpine@gmail.com
Co-creating programs and presentations with the other Maryknoll entities. The Affiliates are continuing to work closely with the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, Sisters, Lay Missioners, and the Maryknoll Office of Global Concerns to develop presentations both virtual via Zoom, and in-person conferences and retreats.
A new MAC will take place in September of 2027. Theme: Growing into a New Era Rooted in Maryknoll (watch for announcements). So, we have begun setting aside funds for scholarships, presenter fees, and other costs associated with the conference.
